LET'S BUILD A COMPUTER!

INNOVATION REQUIRES AN EXPERIMENTAL MINDSET (Denise Morrison)

...AND COURAGE

Students in the Eastchester Middle School Advanced Computer Club decided last year (2017-2018) that they wanted to build a computer from scratch. They compiled a list of necessary parts and prices, but unfortunately did not have the means to raise the money to purchase these items. I suggested that we find a grant to help. We were very fortunate when the Eastchester School Foundation, decided to fund the project.

We checked the list with Mr. Wang at Neighbor Computer Services in Eastchester. He verified that all the parts were compatible and made a few suggestions such as a better case and more memory.

This project was completely initiated by students who have a great passion for computers, building, and problem solving. The original team is not part of the club anymore, but a new group of seventh grade students have taken on the challenge: Aaliyah, Karthik, Naomi, and Romeo.

The end result is unknown, but learning, fun, and teamwork are guaranteed!
